NECESSARY
(BUT
NOT ALWAYS FUN)
PART OF ANY
ORGANIZATION.
Having served as President of
civic clubs (more than once) as well as District
Governor, I have found one fact that is a part of
all organizations.. Each has service projects that
are needed and worthwhile and that it takes
MONEY (a lot of it) and this
mean FUND RAISING.. Funds can be raised by
using LONG TERM which are long drawn out
projects over weeks or months or SHORT TERM
(very intense) 1 or 2 day projects. From our
experience we prefer the SHORT TERM
PROJECTS.
Most communities have a
number of activities that attract people.
Activities such as FESTIVALS, FAIRS, CONCERTS,
SCHOOL ACTIVITES etc. These attract large
crowds of people who come to have fun and THEY
SPEND MONEY, a lot of it. A lot of this money
is taken out of your community, by commercial
vendors... who come to these events for that
purpose. A large portion of this money could stay
in your community and be put to work for your
organization.. If done right, it is possible to
raise $500 to $1000 or more over 1 or 2 days. This
may involve selling a product or running a game
that promotes competition or just a fun thing to
do.
